| Hindustan Motors in association with Inner Wheel Club of Madras 
				East, Chennai and ANEW (Association for Non Traditional 
				Employment for Women) today initiated a car-driving programme 
				for women in Chennai. Hon. Minister for Social Welfare of Tamil 
				Nadu, Mrs. Poongodhai inaugurated the training programme at 
				Muthiah Chetiyar Boys School at Dr. Alagappa Road. The Inner wheel club has initiated a car 
				driving programme in association with ANEW for women wherein 
				girls would be undergoing training at Institute of Road 
				Transport, at the end of which they will be assisted in securing 
				jobs. Hindustan Motors has not only sponsored an Ambassador Car 
				for training but will also take care of the driver’s salary and 
				the maintenance of the vehicle during the entire training 
				period. During the training the girls will draw up to Rs 2200/- 
				per month in salary and more when their employment is confirmed.
 Addressing the ceremony in her inaugural address, Hon. Minister 
				said, “ There is a growing need to introduce more organisations 
				like Inner Club and corporates like Hindustan Motors that not 
				only train women by providing the necessary resources to earn 
				alternative livelihood, but also assists them in securing a 
				suitable job opportunity”.
 
 Ms Soni Srivastav, General Manager Corporate Communication, 
				Hindustan Motors said, “We at Hindustan Motors feel that to 
				empower women is to empower the entire family. As a responsible 
				corporate, it gives us immense pleasure in introducing this 
				programme that would not only enable women to secure jobs, but 
				would also empower them to lead an independent livelihood.”
 
 The Inner Wheel Club of Madras East is a 12-year-old club, which 
				has been involved, in many worthy projects over the years, with 
				a focus on working with women and children. Assistance to many 
				schools, with regards to infrastructure and everyday needs of 
				the children has been provided. The club also works with several 
				orphanages and renders personal service at many old age homes. 
				The earlier batches initiated are gainfully employed. The club 
				now plans to have the women undergo a basic self-defence course.
