MITSUBISHI CEDIA dominates National Rally Championship - Nov 19, 2006
Team Cedia bags top two positions at Rally De Goa

New Delhi, Sunday, November 19, 2006: Establishing its mark as the Champion of Rallies, the Mitsubishi Cedia today won the final round of MAI’s (Motor Sport Association of India) Indian National Rally Championship at Rally De Goa in Panaji. Champion Rally driver of the country, Naren Kumar drove the superior powered 2000 cc Cedia to a comfortable win.

The dominance of Cedia on the rally tracks was further strengthened by runner up driver Gaurav Gill who was also sporting a Cedia. With a time gap of 2 min 31 sec from the nearest driver, the Cedia put forth a splendid performance at the rally. The Cedia had made its debut at the Championship on a winning note at the K 1000 circuit held recently in Bangalore. This was the first time in the history of the championship that a debutant vehicle went on to win the championship.

Commenting on the occasion the victorious driver, Naren Kumar said, “ The Cedia has proven its excellence in international rally circuits the world over and has yet again lived up to its reputation”. He further added “ The superior power of this car has been the key reason for its selection by Team JK Tyre at the championship”.

Mitsubishi Cedia is put through extensive tests such as subjecting the vehicle through Stone Paved Circuit Tracks for thousands of laps along with a grueling test of endurance on Indian roads. Such tests ensure the winning performance of the Cedia at platforms like the Indian National Rally Championship.

Speaking about the rally JK Tyre team head Mr. Sanjay said, “ Mitsubishi Cedia’s winning performance at the championship has established it as the leader in its class”. He also said that. “ The Cedia signifies rally proven toughness, excellent maneuverability, great ride comfort along with latest technological advancements”.

Cedia is a car from the Mitsubishi-Hindustan Motors stable and is manufactured at the company’s plant in Chennai. Hindustan Motors was established in 1942 and is a part of the GP-CK Birla group. Mr. C.K.Birla is the Chairman of Hindustan Motors. Lancer and Pajero are the other models that are rolled out of the plant in Chennai.
